Foster
Parents Training Speech
Jeanne
survived one of the most horrendous childhoods in American history.
Her parents didn’t hang painting on the wall like other
people do; They hung children
on the wall. They were beaten
every day. Jeanne's brother
died hanging on the wall and Jeanne barely survived.
Jeanne
had one good foster parent and several bad ones. She spent much
of her childhood on a foster slave farm, where she was treated like an
animal and beaten with a rubber hose.
Through it all, she tried to keep a song in her heart and
beauty in her soul.
I n
her presentation, Jeanne goes into detail about what to expect from an abused
child and the impact of good and bad foster parenting.

Social
Worker Training Speech
"Everyday my three year old brother, Peter and
I were beaten and tied standing in our own waste against the wall. We
would sob in pain for hours. Soon, my brother, Peter began to
softly chant a mantra of his own creation. His song brought him
comfort and peace and he would drift off to sleep. In my room of
darkness tied to my wall his nightly lullaby gently comforted me and
assured me he was alive.
My brother, Peter, was tortured to death but
his song did not die with him. I would live in many abusive foster
homes where my only solace was to sing Peter's Lullaby."
This speech goes into detail about what
social workers and police officers should look for when they
investigate child abuse and when they do make home visits to foster
parents.

The
Patchwork Girl Speech for Abused Children
"Every time I was beaten or neglected, it tore my life. When my brother was murdered it ripped my heart.
When I was moved from foster home to foster home it tattered my soul.
When no one loved me it cut my spirit into little tiny pieces.
Then one day a nice lady made me a
beautiful patchwork quilt. I marveled at the craftsmanship and
wrapped myself in its love.
Slowly it dawned on me. I could
choose the good pieces of my tattered life and stitch myself back
together."
